How to make paper at home
Necessary Tools:
- big plastic bucket.
- kettle or saucepan to boil water.
- spatula.
- plastic tray a little bigger than an A4.
- mixer
- A wooden frame A4 size that will be covered with metal-lic fabric – like a sieve – that has tiny holes in it
- wooden press: a board size A4 with an object on top of it as weight pressure…
- And if you don’t have time, an iron.
Once everything is ready begins the paper adventure:
Take used paper and rip it in small bits and pieces, which you will throw inside the bucket. Add some warm water and smash everything with the mixer, so you get homo-geneous dough. This paste is called paper paste.
If this paste has too much ink, you can try to take it off with water.
Once this is done, you can install the A4 size filter on top of the tray, and expand the paper paste on it. With the spatula, press the paper paste so it gets thin and it loses wastewater.
Once thin – like a sheet of paper – you strongly press it so it loses the rest of the water and it becomes com-pletely thin. Now you have got your first sheet of paper! You just need to dry it under the sun or in the cool air. If you are in a hurry, you can iron it.
